(THIS IS IN RELATION TO THE BLACK SCREEN ISSUE THAT APPEARS WHEN TRYING TO LOAD ANY LEVEL I have written a shell script (.sh) that applies the fix for you if you don't want to do it yourself. Note, I've only played one level that I couldn't before, so obviously this isn't exhaustive. I'm guessing that my desktop with my GTX 760 would work flawlessly after moving the steam library into my home folder, but I'll have to test later this week. So far, I can say that this configuration works: Here's are my command-line options that I set: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 primusrun %command%. The only caveat is that you have to use the Wine DirectX layer instead of DXVK. I wonder if the path issue is actually a bug in the game and not in Proton that was only manifested because of the default paths that Steam uses in Linux.Īlso, if anyone is trying to run this game on an optimus laptop using bumblebee, I was able to get it to work quite well on my new laptop (MSI GS65 Stealth). By setting my Steam library folder to be ~/Steam (and re-installing), I can now play Hang Eight (I couldn't play that level before). The default steam folder's path seems to be too long.
#Crash bandicoot n sane trilogy pc loading times upgrade
How can I check what version of Proton I'm running? And if the latest version of the Steam client doesn't have it, how might I upgrade to the version you mentioned?Īppreciate the nostalgia - I remember playing Crash Bandicoot back on PS1, and I want to share that with my kids - especially with the remastered graphics :)Īny other ideas? Would be much appreciated :)Īha! That seems to be the exact issue I was having.

Game still crashes immediately upon launch - never get to see so much as a title screen.Īlso, I "assume" I'm running the latest version of Proton because I'm running the latest version of SteamOS and Steam client (with beta on), but I don't "know" it for sure. :(įrom your suggestion, I did put proton_no_esync=1 %command% in my launch options, but alas that had no effect. Those menus just don't exist if you run SteamOS.

I'm running SteamOS, I'm basically "stuck" permanently in BigPicture mode (though I do have access to the gnome desktop) - there is no "NON-big picture" mode, so unfortunately I can't try your suggestion of
